Cranberry Garlic Ham
Bake up this Cranberry Garlic Ham recipe today for your next holiday meal. Cranberry Garlic Ham is a delicious home-cooked meal that will feed your entire family.
To start, preheat your oven to 300°. While your oven is preheating, set up your ham by placing your ham cut side down in a baking pan. Pour apple cider over top and cover the ham with foil. Apple cider adds sweetness to ham keeps it moist and helps prevent drying as the ham is in the oven.
Bake the ham for 2 hours. While the ham is baking, make the glaze. Melt butter in a medium saucepan and add garlic to sauté for 2 minutes. Next, add cranberry sauce, honey, mustard, spices and sparkling wine.
Cook the glaze for 5-6 minutes.
Now, it’s time to baste the ham with some of the glaze. Remove the ham from the oven and increase heat to 375°. Baste the ham with half of the glaze. You’ll use the rest of the glaze later. The glaze adds mouth-watering sweetness and flavor to the ham.
The ham goes back to the oven. After 15 minutes, baste the ham with the remaining glaze and return to the oven for 12 minutes. Basting is important as it keeps the meat moist and juicy. You don’t want to baste the ham with the juice from the pan as it is too salty, so always baste with your glaze.
Almost done now, remove the ham from the oven and allow the ham to rest for 10 minutes before serving. This is so, the juices are redistributed to the rest of the dish.
Garnish with grilled pineapple slices as desired.
