Service Animal Policy
ALDI is committed to making reasonable modifications in policies, practices, and procedures to permit individuals with disabilities to be accompanied by service animals in our stores. Because service animals play an important role in ensuring the independence of individuals with disabilities, we welcome service animals even if state and local health codes do not allow other animals into our stores. Service animals are dogs or miniature horses that are individually trained to work or perform tasks for individuals with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Service animals are not allowed in shopping carts, baskets or ALDI provided wheelchair/motorcart attachments, even if on a mat, crated or in an animal carrier.
- A service animal must have a harness, leash, or other tether, unless the handler is either unable to use the same because of a disability, or the use of the same would interfere with the service animal’s safe, effective performance of work or tasks. In such case, the service animal must otherwise be under the handler’s control, such as through voice commands, signals, or other effective means.
Pets and Emotional Support Animals
Pets and animals whose sole function is to provide emotional support and comfort or crime deterrence are not service animals under the ADA and are not permitted in our stores.
